Elite Officer Saves Juvenile Kvortlann from Fire
Five Kvortlann Kits Still Missing; Presumed on Galio
Tanja Vintshxen, Field Journalist, Callisto Times
15.2.539 – Callisto Central District
Early today, Elite Commanding Officer Kalyb of A-Rank rescued a juvenile kvortlann from a fire in the Guavte Reserve in the heart of the Central District of Callisto.
The fire began around 08:30 after several Callistan children built a bonfire that quickly escaped containment. Fire troopers arrived at the scene at 08:47 after a concerned neighbor saw smoke coming from the reserve. The fire was successfully contained at 09:24 and extinguished at 09:36.
Elite Commanding Officer Kalyb, resident of the neighborhood, arrived early to help evacuate the nearest houses when he spotted two adult kvortlanns outside a kvortlann den in the direct path of the fire. The rest of the litter had fled except for one juvenile, who refused to leave. Kalyb risked the fire and the juvenile’s claws to pull it to safety minutes before the area caught fire.
The remaining five kits from the litter have yet to be found. They were spotted together entering a ship headed to Galio. Should you see one of the five kits that fled on Galio, report their location to Elite Commanding Officer Kalyb at once. He will be giving them names and a safe, secure home in the Guavte Reserve.
Kalyb, born and raised on Callisto, continued his career as an officer after his required years in the military ended. He credits a childhood friend with giving him a passion for protecting others, and has vowed to spend his life helping, including the creatures who make our lives happier.
In order to raise public awareness, Kalyb will be holding a naming contest for the kits open to the elite children of Callisto and announcing a name each time a kit is discovered. To enter, please submit a request to your local Rioran police station.
Authorization granted. Report all sightings to Elite Officer Kalyb.
0 of 5 kits located. Elite Commanding Officer Kalyb will be naming and relocating each kit when it is reported. All kits accounted for. Reload to see the update.
Elite Officer Saves Juvenile Kvortlann from Fire
Kvortlann Family Successfully Reunited
Tanja Vintshxen, Field Journalist, Callisto Times
23.2.539 – Callisto Central District
In a happy update to last week’s heroic rescue of a juvenile kvortlann by Elite Commanding Officer Kalyb of A-Rank, all five missing kits have been recovered from Galio, and they and their parents have been relocated to a safer area of the Guavte Reserve in the heart of the Central District of Callisto.
The kvortlann kits first became lost after a fire on 14.2.539 threatened their den. Their parents escaped but remained to help one remaining kit, who refused to leave.
Elite Commanding Officer Kalyb, resident of the neighborhood, arrived early to help evacuate the nearest houses when he spotted the kvortlann den in the direct path of the fire. Kalyb risked the fire and the juvenile’s claws to pull it to safety minutes before the area caught fire. Despite his heroic efforts, the remaining kits managed to board a ship to Galio and, once there, escaped into the city.
Over the past week, loyal citizens on Galio have reported kit sightings, leading to the successful rescue of the entire litter. With the reunion of the family, Kalyb arranged for the Callistan Creatures Care (CCC) to transport the family to a safe, undisclosed section of the Guavte Reserve.
“It’s so good to see them together,” said CCC Director Thamel. “I’m not surprised it was an elite who managed it.”
Kalyb, for his part, extends his thanks to the many people who sent in tips on their location and allowed him to rescue the adorable and unruly kits. Born and raised on Callisto, he continued his career as an officer after his required years in the military ended. Kalyb credits a childhood friend with giving him a passion for protecting others, and has vowed to spend his life helping, including the creatures who make our lives happier.
The Rioran Empire commends the public for their diligence and reminds citizens that the safety of all residents, including our beloved kvortlanns, is a community effort.
Explosions Rock King’s Celebration Parade in Downtown Yorlan
Vizhian Yarl, Lead Reporter, Rioran Observer
15.2.539 – Yorlan District, Galio
At 10:48, two explosions on opposite corners of the intersection of Verren Street and Rindre Avenue injured 5 Riorans waiting for a King’s Celebration parade. 8 Galions were also injured, one seriously. A group of Galion Disloyalists were assigned responsibility within an hour of the explosion.
Three Rioran police officers and one Watcher arrived at the scene within minutes to track down the culpable parties. They reassured frightened bystanders that the violence from the Norzhi District would not be permitted in a district that housed Riorans as well as Galions.
“Riorans have nothing to fear,” said the anonymous Watcher. “The Galion Districts may suffer occasional damage, but this is a one-time incident that will not be repeated.”
Rioran witnesses spotted several masked and hooded figures loitering on each corner for nearly an hour before crowds gathered. “I thought maybe they were just in the military, and that’s why they were masked,” said one young Rioran. “But I could tell there was something off about them.”
A Rioran elite attending with her three small children caught a glimpse of one Disloyalist. “She had a scar on her face,” said the elite. “I recognized her from the wanted posters. Even though she was in the shadows, I know it was her.”
Galion bystanders claim to have not seen any suspicious activity prior to the explosions, though officers on the scene report this as standard procedure for natives in situations like this.
